Delmar Studio was founded in 1946 by Stan Nicholls, who chose the name after seeing a Graphics Studio in Canada where he had been stationed during the war. It was then taken over by Alex and Kath Taylor in the 50's, who ran the studio until 1961. Bill Sainsbury, my late father, then took over the Studio, and I joined him after completing my Photographic training at Plymouth College in 1979
Photography has played a huge part in my life and I feel very lucky to have been able to earn a living from something that I have a passion for and still consider a hobby. One of the great things with photography is that I'm always learning something new. Each job brings its own challenges and there is never any room for complacency.
I have always taken great pride in my work and this is probably reflected by the amount of work that comes via personal recommendation. It has also been nice to have made a lot of friends from clients I've worked for over 30 years
I am a qualified member of the Master Photographers Association (MPA) having gained an award in Wedding Photography and also a Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP)
